Degree in Agricultural Science, University of Bari.
-1993. Research training associate awarded by the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan (Nigeria), for research on the cytogenetics of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) and wild relatives, at the Istituto di Genetica Vegetale IGV-CNR, Bari.
-1994. Research fellowship at the John Innes Institute (JII), Karyobiology Group, Dep. Cell. Biology, Norwich, (UK) on the molecular cytogenetics of Vigna and Arabidopsis species.
-1997. Research contract (art. 23) at the Istituto del Germoplasma, Bari, on the genetic diversity and phylogenetic relationships in the genus Triticum and Vigna using molecular cytogenetics methods.
-1996. Two short-term mobility fellowships (CNR-British Council), at the John Innes Institute (JII), Karyobiology Group, Norwich (UK), as part of a joint programme of research on the molecular cytogenetics of Triticeae species by FISH using SSR molecular marker.
-1999. Tree short-term mobility fellowships (CNR-DFG), one at the Cell Biology Dept. of Biology di Kaiserslautern (Germany), and two at the Institute of Crop Science and Plant Breeding Christian-Albrechts-University di Kiel (Germany), as part of a joint programme of research on the development and use of high repetitive DNA and mobile DNA elements as novel molecular markers to study genetic diversity in plants.
